Difference between Fresh Water and Salt Water Pearls

Fresh water pearls can range from the traditional pink, cream, and white to more unusual shades like cooper and lavender. The color of choice is purely at the whim of the buyer, although these latter colors tend to raise the price on fresh water pearls.
